Color Theory: An Exploration Through Street Art

Color, or hue, is the most expressive element in art and in it's most formal sense, can be studied from various points of perspective.  Over the past few weeks, as a class, primary & secondary colors have been explored and value & intensity scales have been successfully completed.

Now, to build on what you have learned...

In the coming weeks, Mr. Calvert's period 3 and period 6/7 classes, under the instruction of Mrs. Shoemaker, will examine color theory and color schemes through the lens of various street artists and their work.  Street Art is specifically visual art, developed in public spaces.  Lessons introduced will be based on:

·      Analogous Color Schemes

·      Complimentary Color Schemes

·      Monochromatic Color Schemes

·      Artist's Choice Pointillism

·      Warm & Cool Tones

After each lesson is introduced, you can check back at http://mrhsvisualarts.blogspot.com/ for more information, additional images and inspiration regarding the lesson and the artist(s) introduced.
