Street Art Sunday

Back alley off Bangs Ave.
Asbury Park, NJ
I managed to capture the above collaborative graffiti work while it was being painted a few weeks back in Asbury Park.  Many of these panels are still up, however some have since been removed.  I had the opportunity to speak with one of the artists, NAVY8 (far right panel) who is a Brooklyn, NY based artist, about his work and creative process. You can see more of NAVY8's work here: http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/graffiti-spotlight-navy-8

Below are a few excerpts from our conversation about the mural...

I create graffiti in the most traditional sense and I feel a strong work
should both legible but stylized.  It should capture the attention of anyone who sees it.
Because we had permission to paint these panels, we were able to
take our time and make it more polished.

The artists and their locations who took part in this
collaborative piece were the following:
NAVY8: Brooklyn, NY
GABLE: Brooklyn, NY
BONUS: New York City, NY
BZEE: Harlem
